Silver Medal
Each image is a synthesis of the same issue at two different times in Sri Lanka. The black and white sections correspond to photographs I took on my first trip in 1983. The colour sections are from photographs I took in 2018.
I wanted to bring together, in the same image, the old and the new, considering that the current situation is the result of evolution, of a gradual transformation, sometimes respecting the values of yesteryear, sometimes breaking with them.
The result is a documentary fiction in which each image is a subjective account inspired by real events. However, viewers will have no difficulty identifying the elements of 1983, since they are all in black and white, with the technical imperfections of the time, whereas the reality of 2018 has been photographed in colour.
