After the Big White Whale

[the old problem: to emerge from silence]

It’s early, as always. It begins again at the end of a world once familiar, now gone, in the quiet space that opens up after a rupture, after a personal loss. When something stirs, and a way is found to surface. There, I am a child, a woman, a withered boat, a ray and its shadow, a flower called forget-me-not.

Fragments gather slowly, like shells picked dearly from the shore; small offerings, each echoing the big ocean’s ever-fleeting song. The house is now a sequence of traces, images circling a moment that cannot be fully told, a body always already exposed.

As much a stumbling as a stepping stone, these second skins remain—for you—to weave each time what will have been this story. A fiction of the real; a series of film self-portraits, dreaming still that we dance on.
