Scampia- Something Went Wrong

The photographic project, begun in April 2017, focuses on the Vele (Sails) of Scampia.

The idea is to give voice to the other side of those buildings.

To introduce the people who live there, the poverty and isolation that the end of the Camorra regime has brought.

Not a place of crime, but an abandoned suburb. Even by the underworld.

With these shots, the hope is to restore the right of escape from the commonplace to a community.

To show

the pride of those who live there, the stubborn and resilient desire to move forward.

Despite everything.

But also, to give voice to the resignation and sadness of those who don't know how to do it.

In 2020, the Municipality of Naples, through a land redevelopment project, demolished one of the four Vele (Sails) still standing.

The result was a veritable exodus of displaced people, forced to occupy dilapidated housing in the remaining three buildings.

Today, Scampia appears like a microcosm.

A suburb within the suburbs, whose residents are at the mercy of marginalization and abandonment.
