Yoshi, a word borrowed from the Sharanahua people, designating at once shadows, photography, and spirits. This project explores our relationship to the invisible, the unknown, and death through images. Some of theam captured with a "full spectrum" camera, capable of pushing beyond the limits of the visible spectrum. Ordinary things reveal themselves under an uncanny light, their appearance and form transformed. The mundane becomes strange.
The work unfolds along two axes: a photographic experimentation that shifts the boundaries of perception, and an immersion among ghost hunters whose methods interrogate our need to make tangible what escapes the eye. Somewhere between documentary and fiction, Yoshi questions the very nature of the image. Is it evidence, a trace, or simply a reflection of our beliefs? By weaving together technology and narrative, this project opens a rift in the real — where what is captured may be nothing more than what we wish to see.
