Time tightens the reins on everything.
Even for Mom and Dad.
I think about the years these two human beings have spent together—nearly 60—and I think about their bond. Just the thought of it is hard for me, and yet there is great beauty behind this process.
One of the first issues in psychotherapy for me was: the anticipation of loss. The doctor simply told me it might be wiser to realize that many years could still pass before their farewell and not to wait for that moment. It was a practical answer. Go right or go left.
I don’t know exactly where I went, but the extra hours I spent with them and their bodies to create these images were extraordinary.
The illusion of escaping into an eternal time and space together with them is one of the greatest gifts I could give myself.
These photos are the result of that escape.
