I grew up in Bengal, a place shaped by rivers. In Bhatiyali and Baul traditions, existence itself is often understood as a river that carries both direction and uncertainty.
After leaving home in search of stability and moving west, I find that contemporary life increasingly denies fixity. It unfolds instead as a series of partial states, transitional, unresolved, and continually in flux.
ADRIFT explores this suspended condition. It moves through moments where people, gestures, and spaces remain unresolved. Water, shifting light, and recurring fragments of red appear throughout the work. Across interiors, landscapes, and transitional spaces, the images resist forming a single narrative, instead gathering around a shared condition of brief stillness.
