Character Building is a photographic exploration of the rural Andalusian home where I grew up. Created over three years, the work revisits the landscape that shaped my early identity. By returning to this formative environment during lockdown, I began to reflect on how memory and place intertwine and how childhood spaces continue to inform who we become. Using direct on-camera flash and coloured gels, I transform familiar scenes into heightened, dreamlike encounters. Fire, fruit, ash, and foliage are rendered with an intensity that shifts them from documentation to psychological terrain.
