Series - FotoSlovo 2026 - Category « Still Life »

Frozen is a series of floral portraits encased in frozen water. The flowers and water exist in quiet collaboration, forming a delicate dialogue between fragility and permanence. Each image reflects a desire to preserve fleeting beauty. The flowers are placed in water and left to transform. I wanted water to interact with the flowers, shaping them as it gradually freezes around them. It presses against petals, surrounds stems, and creates lines and fractures within the ice. The water not only contains the flower, it alters its form and presence.

As a photographer, I witness the process as water envelops the flower, shaping form and stillness. I do not control the outcome once freezing begins. I step in at the end and capture the moment when liquid has become solid, when movement has come to a pause.
