Honorable Mention
I watched this young Wititi dancer practicing her steps on the central plaza of the Colca Valley. The air was thin, and the only sound was the heavy fabric of her skirt snapping against the wind.
By capturing this in black and white, I wanted to strip away the distractions and focus entirely on the interplay of light and shadow. You can see the intricate textures of her traditional dress—the deep embroidery that tells a story of its own—contrasting against the weathered stones of the colonial Spanish church in the background.
There is a certain tension in the frame: the stillness of the ancient architecture versus the raw, blurred energy of her movement. For me, this moment captures the heartbeat of the highlands—a tradition that is as solid as the church behind her, yet as fluid as the dust on the plaza.
