The Forest Beast
Imagine your clothes were alive.
They would hug you and keep you warm. They would fill you with confidence or transport you to memories. They would care for you, and you would care for them. They would be your friend or your pet. You would never throw them away. You would mend them if they broke. You would pass them on to a good home when it was time to part ways.
I made a sweater especially for this photo, inspired by the work of Icelandic textile artist Ýr Jóhannsdóttir (https://www.yrurari.com), a textile artist who upcycles old sweaters. Things to which eyes are added automatically come alive. I decorated my cardigan with eyes, a nose, and organic elements to encourage empathy and appreciation for clothing.
