Stockholm syndrome is a psychological condition in which individuals, after experiencing harm or restriction of their freedom, develop an emotional dependence on those or that which confines them.

This is also how I feel about my homelande. I have left it, yet a last piece of me remains tied to it. I cannot fully explain this connection. There is pain and discomfort in it, but it stays with me, always there, like a part of my body I can never remove.
